The Korea Maritime Law Association (KMLA) is an academic research organization that was formally established at the first academic meeting on July 25, 1978. Its membership is not confined to maritime lawyers but includes professors, shipowners,P&I clubs and other persons and organizations involved in maritime activities who have an interest in maritime law. Students and overseas members are also welcomed.
 
The objectives of the association is to study the maritime law of Korean and foreign countries, and to contribute to international uniformity
in the maritime law of different nations
